Who are you?

BioLush was founded in 2023 by herbalists, cosmetic chemists, and eco-entrepreneurs passionate about transforming the beauty industry in the UK. We saw the demand for truly natural, transparent, and ethically made products—free from parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, and plastic waste. Our mission is to empower you with knowledge, recipes, and community support so you can create and choose beauty solutions that are kind to your skin and to the Earth.
Our founding team includes a Master Herbalist (London School of Botanical Studies), an organic cosmetic-formulation chemist (University of Surrey), and a sustainable-packaging specialist. We partner with UK organic farms, bee-keepers, and cold-pressed oil mills to source raw ingredients that meet Soil Association and COSMOS standards. All our content undergoes scientific peer review and is field-tested in both lab and home-kitchen settings to ensure safety, efficacy, and sensory delight.
BioLush operates around three pillars: Clean Formulation, DIY Empowerment, and Sustainable Ethics. Under Clean Formulation, we demystify cosmetic-chemistry by breaking down ingredient functions, regulatory guidelines (UK Cosmetic Regulation EU 1223/2009), and safety assessments. DIY Empowerment delivers detailed tutorials—complete with ingredient ratios, temperature controls, and preservation methods—for soaps, creams, scrubs, and hair treatments. Sustainable Ethics covers zero-waste packaging strategies, upcycling container ideas, and carbon-neutral shipping practices.

We foster community through our online “Lush Lab,” where members share recipes, troubleshoot formulations, and participate in monthly challenges (e.g., “Zero-Waste Deodorant”). We also run live webinars with guest experts—dermatologists, perfumers, packaging innovators—to keep you at the forefront of organic beauty trends. At BioLush, we believe that beauty should be wholesome, transparent, and regenerative. Join us in crafting a more lush, healthy future—one botanical blend at a time.

Our edge

  • Laboratory-Grade Organic Formulations

At BioLush, our formulation chemists develop each recipe to achieve clinical-grade performance using only certified organic, plant-derived ingredients. We conduct stability testing—centrifuge, freeze-thaw cycles, microbial challenge—to ensure your DIY creams and serums remain safe and effective for at least 12 months. Every botanical extract (e.g., chamomile hydrosol, rosehip oil) is standardized for active constituents—flavonoids, vitamins, essential fatty acids—and verified by HPLC analysis. Our detailed formulation reports include pH curves, rheology profiles, and sensory evaluation data so you can replicate professional-quality textures, absorption rates, and scent experiences in your own kitchen.
  • Transparent Ingredient Sourcing & Traceability

We partner directly with UK organic growers and FairForLife-certified producers to source raw materials with full chain-of-custody documentation. Each batch of butters, oils, clays, and botanicals is accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis detailing origin, harvest date, extraction method, and contaminant screening (pesticides, heavy metals). Our interactive Ingredient Map shows you exactly which farm produced your lavender oil or oat flour, and under what regenerative-agriculture practices. This level of transparency ensures ethical sourcing, supports local farmers, and lets you choose ingredients aligned with your values.
  • Comprehensive Safety & Regulatory Guidance

Navigating UK and EU cosmetic regulations can be daunting. BioLush provides clear, step-by-step compliance checklists for amateur and professional formulators: from Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) basics to submitting Product Information Files (PIFs) under EC 1223/2009. We explain preservative efficacy testing (ISO 11930), allergen labeling requirements, and Packaging & Labeling Directive standards. Our legal-reviewed template labels, safety-data sheets, and claims-support dossiers help you launch home-made products or micro-brands without risk of non-compliance or customer complaints.
  • Interactive DIY Workshops & Expert Mentoring

BioLush’s virtual Lush Lab hosts weekly live workshops where you follow along with experts to create body butters, whipped creams, botanical toners, and solid shampoo bars. Each session includes Q&A, troubleshooting, and guided sensory evaluation. Members can book one-on-one mentoring calls with our cosmetic chemist or herbalist to refine tricky formulations, adjust for skin sensitivities, or scale up from kitchen-scale to small-batch production. Our community forum archives all workshop recordings, recipes, and peer feedback, creating a rich knowledge base for continuous learning.
  • Sustainable Packaging & Zero-Waste Systems

We champion circular-economy packaging: reusable glass jars, metal tins, compostable sachets, and biodegradable labels. Our Packaging How-To guides cover container selection, sterilization, fill-weight calibration, and post-consumer recycling. We also provide blueprints for upcycling your leftover packaging into planters, storage pots, or decorative items. BioLush’s zero-waste challenge encourages members to track their packaging footprint and earn rewards—discount codes, exclusive recipes—for achieving waste-reduction milestones.
  • Holistic Wellness Integration

Beauty is more than skin-deep. BioLush integrates skincare with holistic wellness: guided facial-yoga routines to boost circulation, aromatherapy protocols for stress relief, and nutrient-dense smoothie recipes to support skin health from within. Our Wellness Pathways—30-day programmes—combine topical treatments, dietary guidelines, mindfulness exercises, and sleep-hygiene tips grounded in peer-reviewed research on skin physiology, psychodermatology, and nutrition science. By addressing beauty holistically, we help you achieve radiant skin, balanced mood, and lasting vitality.
Our solutions
Custom Formulation Consultancy
Our cosmetic-chemistry experts work with indie brands, spas, and entrepreneurs to develop bespoke organic skincare lines. We conduct initial consultations to define target market, skin concerns, and brand values, then deliver full formulation dossiers—ingredient specifications, stability and preservative testing, manufacturing protocols, and scale-up plans. We liaise with contract manufacturers and certify final products under Soil Association or COSMOS standards, ensuring your line meets premium organic credentials.
DIY Kit Subscription & Supplies
Subscribe to BioLush’s monthly DIY Kit: pre-measured organic ingredients, natural pigments, essential-oil blends, and recyclable packaging. Each kit includes step-by-step instructions, video access, safety gear, and recipe cards. Kits range from beginner to advanced—e.g., “Botanical Body Butter,” “Herbal Shampoo Bar,” “Vitamin C Serum.” Subscribers receive member discounts on refill raw materials and priority access to new workshop registrations.
Branding & Label Design for Indie Beauty
We offer graphic-design and branding services tailored to organic beauty startups: logo creation, label layout, ingredient panel formatting, and marketing-compliant claims. Our designers ensure a cohesive brand identity that resonates with eco-conscious UK consumers, while our regulatory team verifies label text for allergen declarations, usage instructions, and required safety warnings.
Scale-Up & Manufacturing Support
Transition from kitchen batches to small-scale production with our scale-up services. We optimize mixing vessels, emulsification equipment, and heating/cooling protocols to maintain product quality at 5–50 kg batch sizes. We coordinate with UK-based GMP-certified contract manufacturers, oversee pilot runs, and validate batch consistency through QC testing (viscosity, pH, microbial).
Wholesale & Distribution Partnerships
BioLush connects indie beauty brands with ethical retail partners—spa chains, organic boutiques, wellness cafés—and e-commerce platforms specialising in clean beauty. We negotiate wholesale terms, manage order fulfilment logistics, and provide co-marketing support (social-media takeovers, sampling events). Our distribution network spans major UK regions and EU export channels.
Educational Masterclasses & Accreditation
Enrol in our intensive masterclasses—”Advanced Emulsification Techniques,” “Natural Preservative Systems,” “Herbal Extraction Methods”—led by industry experts. Courses include hands-on labs, analytical testing, and accreditation under the Society of Cosmetic Scientists (SCS). Graduates earn CPD-credited certificates recognised by UK formulation and wellness bodies, boosting professional credentials and career prospects.
